The stone meant so much to me. I acquired it in Africa as a reward for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro with my husband, my sister and several friends. It was a personal challenge that included surviving a killer storm on the mountain and overcoming a measure of altitude sickness. I learned that tanzanite is extremely rare and found only in the hills of Kilimanjaro in Tanzania so it seemed a perfect souvenir to commemorate our achievement. I held on to the stone for 14 months before deciding on what I wanted to do it with since it is very sentimental.
I met Robyn a few years ago and I have come to appreciate her personal style and professional designs. Robyn is an expert and I knew I could trust her with this project. She spent a lot of time with me in person and over the phone. I told her that I prefer simple things and asked for designs reflective of my taste and she presented me with several styles exactly along the lines I requested. Then, she showed me what she thought would work with the stone and its history and the decision was clear. I absolutely loved her choice. It took a few weeks to have the setting custom made to my stone but Robyn met with the diamond distributors and took care of everything and made sure the quality and workmanship was perfect. She even had the tanzanite and diamonds appraised for insurance purposes and had a written appraisal. She met me at my home on a Saturday morning with the ring, appraisal and receipts. I was elated! Robyn managed to combine the elements of an epic event, an adventurer spirit, and a rare gem with a magnificent setting to create the most beautiful ring I have ever seen.
